Welcome to Inward Bound! As the mother of three teenagers and the wife of a passionate and spirited man, I rely on yoga, meditation and travel to keep me healthy and sane.
I began practicing yoga in 2005 when my children were quite young. It was a precious time in my life to be home with my kids, but caring for three small children full-time was exhausting. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that no matter how tired I felt when I walked into a yoga class, I always felt much better afterwards.
This inspired me to delve deeper into my practice and eventually train to become a yoga instructor training in Arizona under Martin Kirk, author of Hatha Yoga Illustrated.
Initially I taught group classes from my home. In response to much encouragement from students, friends, and my husband to open my own studio, in 2010 I founded The Yoga Effect in Grayslake, IL.
For six terrific years, I owned, operated, and taught classes there, along with an amazing group of teachers. I was also honored to teach in schools and to club sports teams. While volunteering at a transition program for special needs teenagers, I encountered some of the most beautiful and openhearted people I have ever met. Some of the teens were very low functioning, and much of my adaptive experience comes from working with these amazing teens for 3 years. One of the most rewarding aspects of owning the studio was witnessing the transformation of so many of our students.
When my family and I to moved to Colorado in 2016 to pursue our dream of living in the mountains, I sold the studio to a friend and fellow colleague, leaving it in very good hands. I have since returned to Illinois to be close to family and now treasure the opportunity to practice yoga and teach occasional classes at The Yoga Effect and Total Body Yoga in Mundelein.
Outside of the studio, I enjoy one on one time with clients in my home, where I can incorporate other wellness modalities to help them find a deeper connection and healing.
In 2019 I completed both my Reflexology and Reiki Certifications and my fascination with the mind body connection grows even deeper.
My passion for travel has also turned my focus to planning spiritual retreats in beautiful destinations. Bringing all my passions together is a dream come true for me.
Thank you for your interest in my story. I hope to meet you in person on the mat. Due to Covid-19, all classes are done via zoom.
I am grateful to the wonderful yoga and meditation teachers who filled me with knowledge I can pass along to you. Special thanks to Martin and Jordan Kirk, Chad Satlow, Mara Campbell, Noah Maze, Betsy Downing, Desire Raumbaugh, and Bhante Sujatha.
I look forward to sharing these uplifting and life-altering practices with you!
May you be happy, well, and peaceful.
